I wonder if you're still breathing
in the same pattern that you used to
and if your life just picked up
as it was before in a way that
makes me insignificant
and meaningless.

I wonder if there's someone new —
if she speaks in complete sentences
and means it
when she says
she loves you.

I wonder if you're doing better
and if you'll get it right this time.

I wonder,
but I don't really care.

That's the difference
between now and before,
because before
I couldn't forget you
and now,
I barely remember you.
ended completely differently.

I love the way you broke this up and in just the right places. Had it been different, I feel it wouldn't have had the same impact. I feel like I'm getting a glimpse into a person's thoughts who really wants to believe the last statement, but can't. They are trying not to care, but the fact that this was still written, with the added mention of the pattern of their ex's breathing, makes me believe this poor soul is in denial. I loved this, very very nice. ^_^

Hmmm. I like the change here. You can sense the attatchment and how violently it must have been severed...fantastic work.

Thank you for writing again. Even something small and in progress is lovely.

I think I'm fond of this piece because I've read all your other pieces and it reminds me of Metastasis. It's still my favorite poem you've ever written. The first, I think, is what did it. It makes me feel like your poems just follow your life story without pause, that you are just taking time to let us into the beautifully written world you live in, and you just leave out bits of the story sometimes. That made no sense, but I don't care because I just hope it got across half the joy I find in your writing.
